cause of his build, stride, and looks.
Scott was a "natural” for these roles.
He enacted them with sincerity and
enjoyment. Hi* performances in them
propelled him added notches up the
ladder toward the preserve of stars.
In "Roberta,” Scott demonstrated
that he was capable of versatility in
his portrayal*, lie was cast in epic
tales, in action films, and in a drawing¬
room drama or two. Into all of these
diverse parts he injected feeling, un¬
derstanding, and conviction. His re¬
ward : Stardom. That choice plum was
hard-earned. It was not until he won
the starring role in “The Texans”
that he set foot on soil which only
stars are privileged to tread. In that
picture lie divided stellar honors with
beauteous Joan Bennett.
After hi* strenuous, gruelling ac¬
tivity in "The Texans,” Scott pines
for “a couple of nice, easy drawing¬
room drama*."
Visits Charlotte Frequently
Randolph Scott's parents lived in
Charlotte, North Carolina. When lie is
not too hard-pressed with his film
assignments, ho hies hack there to
spend a few days visiting. On these
visits he sees close friends, grants in¬
terviews to the press and other re¬
sponsible callers, and proves to all and
sundry that hi* success in Hollywood
has not spoiled hi* good nature and
friendliness.
He is the only member of hi* fam¬
ily who answered the lure of the staee.
His two sister* studied, however, for
musical career* in Europe.
At a preparatory school Randolph
Scott joined the glee club, accepted
bits in musical productions, and played
in a stringed orchestra. In pursuit of
more education, he enrolled at Geor¬
gia Tech to study textile manufac¬
turing.

a collegiate career and toured Europe
for one year.

that chore. Then Hollywood'* bright
lights exercised a magnetic pull on
him. A career in films was his shining
goal.
A realistic nature and discerning
judgment bade him to acquire experi¬
ence. finesse, and a well-founded
knowledge of acting. And to achieve
those desired end*, he merged with the
Pasadena Community Playhouse
group — noted a* a training ground
for aspiring actor*. T'nder the direc¬
tion of Gilbert Brown and his staff.
Randolph Scott appeared in outstand¬
ing plays.
Then, in the juvenile lead in "Un¬
der a Virginia Moon." he paraded lii*
talent* before a Hollywood Vine
Street Theatre audience. A role in the
musical comedy, “Oh, Judge." woe hi*
next stopping-done on the road to real
recognition.
Finally, a* the romantic and dash¬
ing young aviator in "The Broken
Wing.” which played at the Hollywood

Paramount executive.. Impressed,

him under contract immediately.
Tall, athletic of frame, Randolph
Scott weighs around 1*.'. pounds. He
has light brown hair and hazel eye*.

personified. Outdoor life and sports
