try, ami each year a growing number
of sportsmen from this and other stale»
lay aside their care» for a while to take
well-earned vacations along its streams
and among its woodland» which abound
in fi»h and game of almost limitless
varieties.
Realizing that these vacationists
want to inik a good measure of solid
comfort, companionship and friendly
relations with their *|mm1, a group of
North Carolinians, under the direction
of Floyd M. Simmons, have organized
the Kdgenater Club, located in Carteret
County near Mnr.hend City. This lo¬
cation U in the very heart of the great
hunting and fishing sections of the
state.

Dedicated to “llis Majesty, the
American Sportsman," the Kdgewalcr
Club, which Occupies a beautiful build¬
ing erected at a eoit of $&i0,000 and
which contains every modern device for
the coinfort and convenience of those
who use its facilities, is M peeled to
prove a magnet which will attract lover*
of the great outdoors in ever-increas¬
ing numbers. It was formerly known
as Morehead Villa.

Thrilling Sportt

Cluh propose* to affect arrangements
for fast power-boat* e.|iceially cquippiM
for the purpose, whereby member» and
guest* of the dub ran fish the Gulf
Stream waters. Snilfidi and tarpon,
those wary fighters, will be available.
Thi» is a much desired sport hereto¬
fore lacking in North Carolina waters.
Shark fishing, another thrilling pa*-
time, will not he overlooked.”
"Itt'l not forget tlie fellows who
like to take their gun- or rifles and
go out for wild game," Mr. Simmons
continued. “Thousands of acre* of cut-
over and virgin timberlnnd», and vast
areas of marshland* under lea»e aud
protected, will afford members and
guests of the club ample opportunity
for upland shooting for birds and
larger game, including duck* and geese.
Noted Men Visitors

section of the state. They include
Irvin Cobh, Babe Ruth, Rex Reach.
Rud Fisher, the cartoonist; Laurence
Stalling», a native of North Carolina
who won world-wide fame in the field*
of literature and the stage; King
Vidor, the motion picture director, and
many oilier* of equal prominence.
"Mr. II. 11. Rrimley, Curator of the
State Museum, and considered one of
North Carolina’s greatest authorities
on fish and game, recently had occa¬
sion to communicate with me. and in
his letter he stated that the region in
which the Edgewnter Club is located
