AN ACT SUPPLEMENTAL TO AN ACT PASSED AT THE PRESENT
SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, ENTITLED “ AN ACT TO
ERECT A NEW COUNTY BY THE NAME OF YANCEY.”
(Passed in the year 1833.)
9. Be it further enacted , That it shall be the duty of the county
courts of Buncombe and Yancey, at their spring sessions, to appoint
two commissioners respectively, who shall receive such compen¬
sation as the said courts shall determine, whose duty it shall be to
ascertain and mark the dividing line between said counties, when¬
ever the same shall be necessary.
10. And be it further enacted , That the said commissioners
shall commence their survey at Daniel Carter’s fork field and run a
direct line from thence to Barnard’s station ; from which point the
line shall run along the old Warm Spring road to James Allen’s
road : and with his road, so as to include his house, to the Ten¬
nessee line ; any thing in the act to which this is supplemental to
the contrary notwithstanding.

AMERICA, CERTAIN WESTERN LANDS THEREIN DESCRIBED.

Whereas the United States in congress assembled have repeat¬
edly and earnestly recommended to the respective states in the
union claiming or owning vacant western territory, to make ces¬
sions of part of tire same, as a further means, as well of hastening
the extinguishment of the debts, as of establishing the harmony
of the United Slates ; and the inhabitants of the said western ter¬
ritory being also desirous that such cession should be made, in
order to obtain a mote ample protection than they have heretofore
received : Now this State being ever desirous of doing ample jus¬
tice to the public creditors, as well as the establishing the harmony
