PROJECT COMMITMENTS 1-85 From east of 1-40 to Durham County Line Orange County WBS Element 47033.1.1 Federal Aid Project Number IMS-085-4 (120) 164 T.I.P. Project Number 1-5312 PDEA Unit, Division 7 Surveys for the dwarf wedgemussel and red-cockaded woodpecker were not conducted, since the 1-5312 pavement rehab project will not involve cutting any trees or impacting any streams. This decision was based on the project improvements occurring along the existing roadway, thereby not affecting these species. Specifically, the proposed project improvements will occur within the existing guardrail limits. In areas where there is no guardrail, improvements will occur from the existing edge of the travel lane within the 30 foot clear zone. Should the scope of work for 1-5312 change so that trees would be cut (especially any pine trees larger than 10 inches in diameter) or streams will be impacted, please notify NC’DOT Natural Environment Section as additional review and or surveys may be necessary.
