HON. LOCKE CRAIG, Governor of North Carolina:
We, the undersigned members of . ~*J Local Union, Cz. ..-x.,/ v . County,
and other citizens of North Carolina, do hereby condemn the unjust, inequitable and excessive inter-state freight rates, which
the railroads of the state are imposing upon odr people, and hereby petition your excellency to compel the railroads to do
justice to the State of North Carolina and thus relieve her citizens of this unrighteous tax, we urge upon you to exhaust, if need
be, all the powers of every department of our State Government. And we hope and believe that a firm, aggressive use of
all these powers and resources will soon bring the railroads to realize that "the way of the transgressor is hard" and that in
the long run "honesty and fair treatment of our people is the best policy."
F raternally,
. President
. . . Secretary
(MEMBERS OF THE UNION AND OTHER CITIZENS, SIGN NAMES BELOW)
