Perdue Appoints Heafner to 19-B District Court Bench RALEIGH - Gov. Bev Perdue today appointed William H. Heafner to the District Court bench for the 19-B Judicial District which covers Montgomery, Moore, and Randolph counties. He will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Michael Sabiston. “Bill is well-qualified to serve as a District Court judge,” said Gov. Perdue. “His prior judicial service and his wealth of experience as a practicing attorney will serve him well on the District Court bench.” Heafner was a District Court Judge in District 19-B from 1978 through 1980. Since that time, he has been in private practice in Asheboro, N.C. In addition, he has remained active in the community and received the National Eagle Scout Association Scoutmaster Award of Merit. Heafner received his law degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law, and his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. ###
