Pasquotank County Library report [1944-1945]

PASQUOTANK COUNTY LIBRARY ELIZABETH CITY, N. C. Resume of 1944-45 The Pasquotank County Library, with this report, closes another year of service to the City of Elizabeth City and the Counties of Pasquotank and Camden. This past year has been outstanding from the viewpoint of increased services. The following items of interest verify the above statement: 1. A larger book circulation was recorded, an increase of 7,992 from the previous year. 2. Bookmobile service to the two counties has completed another year of travel without interruption, 3. Continued progress has been made in completing the indexing system (card catalog) of all books in the library. 4. The Library owned book mending project was established April 1, 1945. This is the first time that book mending has been done since the MPA book mending project was discontinued over two years ago. 5. The Librarian and Assistant Librarian attended the District Library Meeting, held in Edenton, N.C. on October 10, 1944. 6. The Bookmobile, which had been on loan from the North Carolina Library Commission, was purchased by the Pasquotank County Library in February, 1945. 7. Luring the past year there were six Library Eoard Meetings held to transact necessary business, S, Additional shelves were added in the Reading Room to shelve back copies of magazines. Also extra shelves were added in the main section of the library to relieve the congestion of books. 9. The U.D.C. voted to ear mark (Д00 towards the purchase of a new library building, providing the library would purchase 4.100 worth of books to be used for U.D.C. research material. This is the first concrete step toward any outside aid and interest in a new library building* 10. One new Board Member was appointed, Mr. R. L. Garrett, to fill the term of a former member who did not wish to serve. 11.
