A Resolution to Express Appreciation of the Senate for the Fine
and Able Services of Senator H. P. Taylor, as Chairman
of the Appropriations Committee
Whereas, the Appropriation Bill which has just passed the Senate
is the largest in the history of North Carolina, and contains many
items about which there has been controversy; and
Whereas, considerable time and many sessions of the Appropriations
Committee have been necessary in order to give all interested parties
a full and fair hearing; and
Whereas, throughout all the hearings before the Committee there
has been such a uniform, courteous, and considerate regard for the
views of all members of the Committee and to the appeals made by
those who appeared before the Committee, that the Senate has passed
the Appropriation Bill without a single amendment being adopted:
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Senate:
Section 1. That in appreciation of the fine services rendered by
Senator H. P. Taylor, Chairman of the Appropriations Committee,
the courtesy extended the members of the Committee, and the able
manner in which the bill was handled before the Committee and be¬
fore this body, that the Senate give Senator Taylor a rising vote of
thanks.
Sec. 2. That a copy of this Resolution be spread on the Journal and
a copy given Senator Taylor.
Sec. 3. This Resolution shall be in effect from and after its ratifi¬
cation.
A Resolution Commending Mrs. Edna Jones Harrell for Her
Courteous and Loyal Service During the 1943 Session
of the General Assembiy
Whereas, Mrs. Edna Jones Harrell has shown great consideration
and courtesy to the members of the Senate; and
Whereas, Mrs. Harrell has very efficiently performed her duties as
telephone operator and thereby rendered valuable assistance to the
members of the Senate:
- Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Senate:
Section 1. That we do express to the said Mrs. Edna Jones Harrell
our deep, sincere and grateful appreciation for her cordial, generous
and efficient services rendered to the members of the Senate of one
thousand nine hundred and forty-three.
Sec. 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its ratification.
