Physical Description: 92 items, including requisition records of the CSA
Quartermaster Department, General and Special Orders of the Thirteenth
Regiment's headquarters and of the Adjutant General's Office in Rich¬
mond, Virginia, miscellaneous financial records, insurance policies,
etc .

Received 30 June 1972 and accessioned 11 August 1972.
Description: Joseph B. Starr, resident of Cumberland County, served with
the First Regiment North Carolina Infantry in 1861. The regiment was
disbanded in November of that year, and Starr was made a Captain in the
2nd Company B, 36th Regiment on Harch 1, 1862. This company was renamed
"Starr.' s Light Battery" and in 1863 was transferred to the Thirteenth
Battalion, North Carolina Light Artillery as Company B. Starr was
promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in December, 1863. He and his company
surrendered on April 26, 1865, and were paroled on April 29, 1865.
