Mike Easley has commuted the death sentence of Robert Bacon Jr., a convicted murderer who was scheduled to be executed at 2 a.m. Friday for the 1987 murder of Glennie Clark. Bacon will now serve life in prison without parole. Easley issued the following statement on his decision. “I am satisfied that the prosecutors and judges acted fairly and professionally in this case.
