EASLEY APPOINTS ROLFE AS CHAIR AND APPOINTS CLAMPETT, HALRES AND MATTHEWS TO WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION RALEIGH - Gov. Mike Easley has appointed Christopher C. Rolfe of Charlotte to chair and appointed Marianna Clampett, Phrantceena T. Halres and Martha A. Matthews, all of Raleigh, to the N.C. Commission on Workforce Development. Rolfe is vice president of human resources for Duke Energy. He is a member of the board of directors for the National Association of Workforce Boards and chairman of the board of the Center for Workforce Preparation for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Rolfe is former director of the N.C. Quality Leadership Foundation. He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from N.C. State University and is a registered professional engineer in North and South Carolina. Clampett is vice president of the U.S. Government, Latin America, Education and Canada Operations (GLAECO) for SAS. She is fonner president of SAS Americas and vice president of U.S. Commercial Sales. She is on the board for First Tee and volunteers with Guardian Ad Litem and SAFECHILD. Clampett is board advisor for Southern Capital Ventures. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Halres is chief executive officer of Aelmings Human Resources Corporation and a certified diversity trainer and consultant. In 2003, she established The Mosaic Institute to develop future leaders. Halres received her bachelor’s degree in business from Wingate University. Matthews is a technical training manager at BIOGEN IDEC. She is a member of the BIOLINK Visiting Committee for the National Science Foundation and a member of the BRITE curriculum committee for N.C. Central University. Matthews is a fonner member of the BTEC Advisory Board for N.C. State University. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Emmanuel College and her master’s degree in public health and environmental science from the Boston University School of Public Health. Commission duties are to enhance and develop strategies that produce a skilled and competitive workforce. The commission has 38 members, each serving a four-year term.
