TO CLARIFY APPOINTMENT
TO CONSECUTIVE TERMS ON THE NORTH CAROLINA STUDY COMMISSION ON AGING AND THE
LEGISLATIVE STUDY COMMISSION ON CHILDREN AND YOUTH.
As the title indicates. Amends GS 120-182 to provide that members of the North Carolina Study Commission
on Aging may be appointed to a maximum of three consecutive terms (was, reappointed for two consecutive
terms). Amends GS 120-217 to provide that members of the Legislative Study Commission on Children and
Youth may be appointed to a maximum of three consecutive terms (was, reappointed for two consecutive terms).
Current law provides that members’ terms on each respective commission are to last for two years.

TO AMEND THE CONSTITUTION TO PROVIDE THAT
MARRIAGE BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN IS THE ONLY DOMESTIC LEGAL UNION THAT SHALL BE
VALID OR RECOGNIZED IN THIS STATE.
Enacts a new Section 6 to Article 14 of the North Carolina Constitution as the title indicates. Requires that
the proposed amendment be submitted to the voters at a statewide election on November 3, 2009. If approved,
