VANDALISM THAT RESULTS IN MORE THAN TEN THOUSAND DOLLA RS IN DAMAGES A CLASS 1
FELONY.
Amends GS 14-144 as title indicates. Crime remains a Class 2 misdemeanor when the damage is $10,000
or less. Effective December 1 , 2007.

H 947. NC FORECLOSURE/LANDLORD TENANT LAWS. Filed

REQUIRING THAT A NOTICE OF
SALE IN FORECLOSURE PROCEEDINGS BE SENT TO ANY TENANT RESIDING IN THE PROPERTY TO BE
SOLD AND ALLOWING THE TENANT AFTER RECEIVING THE NOTICE TO TERMINATE THE RENTAL
AGREEMENT UPON TEN DAYS' WRITTEN NOTICE TO THE LANDLORD.
Amends GS 45-21. 16A (contents of notice of sale in foreclosure proceedings) to require the notice of sale to
state that the purchaser may obtain an order for possession of property against a person in possession of the
property and that any person who occupies the property pursuant to a rental agreement may terminate the
agreement upon 10 days’ written notice to the landlord. Makes conforming changes to GS 45-21.17(4) and GS
42-45.

REPORTS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES.
Amends GS 14-225 to enact a new Class H felony that applies when a person, in response to an official
inquiry by a State Bureau of Investigation agent investigating any Class A through G felony, willfully falsifies or
conceals a fact, makes a materially false representation, or knowingly uses any false document. Effective
December 1, 2007.

MUSEUMS OF WILSON.
Appropriates $500,000 for 2007-08 from the General Fund to Science Museums of Wilson, Inc., to support
the retirement of capital debt incurred as a result of recovery from the catastrophic fire. Effective July 1, 2007.
