H 225. ADDITIONAL DSSF FUNDING FOR SCHOOLS. Filed

TO APPROPRIATE ADDITIONAL
FUNDS FOR DISADVANTAGED STUDENT SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING. Appropriates $50 million for 2007-08
and $50 million for 2008-09 from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction for Disadvantaged
Student Supplemental Funding (DSSF). Directs the State Board of Education to hold harmless local
administrative units (units) that received DSSF in the 2005-06 school year. Effective July 1, 2007. (For the
2005-06 school year, the 16 lowest performing units in the state received a total of $22.5 million under DSSF with
per-unit allocations based on a ranking system evaluating factors that identify students as disadvantaged. An
additional $26.7 million allocated to DSSF for the 2005-06 school year was distributed to the other 99 units with a
per-unit allocation based on the ranking system evaluating factors that identify students as disadvantaged.)

TO AUTHORIZE SCOTLAND
COUNTY TO LEVY AN ADDITIONAL ROOM OCCUPANCY AND TOURISM DEVELOPMENT TAX. Amends
Section 1 1 of SL 1997-410 to authorize the Scotland County Board of Commissioners to levy an additional room
occupancy tax of up to 3%.

H 227. HOLD CHILD NUTRITION SERVICES HARMLESS. Filed

TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO
ENSURE THAT SCHOOL FOOD SERVICE PROGRAMS HAVE ADEQUATE RESOURCES TO OFFER AND
PROMOTE HEALTHY , NUTRITIOUS FOOD CHOICES TO STUDENTS. Appropriates $15 million for 2007-08
from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction. Directs the State Board of Education to use the
funds to hold local school administrative units harmless for any decrease in revenues due to the implementation
of new laws and policies regarding child nutrition. Effective July 1, 2008.

H 228. FUNDS FOR TESTING COORDINATORS. Filed

TO PROVIDE TESTING COORDINATORS IN
THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Appropriates $41 ,972,290 for 2007-08 and $41 ,972,290 for 2008-09 from the General
Fund to the Department of Public Instruction as title indicates. Directs the State Board of Education to allocate the
funds on the basis of one position for every 2,000 students with a minimum of one position per local
administrative unit. Effective July 1, 2007.
