Description

PFC Joseph Dixon Rountree of Kinston (Lenoir County), N.C., served in Company F, 28th Regiment, First Division of the U.S. Army during World War I. He was mortally wounded at the Battle of Cantigny in May 1918 and was buried in France. In 1921 Rountree's body was reinterred at Kinston.
