PATIENTS GET, ERR ATE
Patients at the hospital
started the New Year out
with entertainment by
"Lightning" Division sol¬
diers, and lent a hand
themselves in the progran
which was presented on New
Year's day.
The event was staged in
the hospital auditorium.
Casualty lists coming in from the War Department in
Washington, D. C., show that an astounding number of
the men had very little National Service Life Insur¬
ance, and if they had any at all, it was far short of
the amount necessary to care for thoir beneficiaries.
Men of tho 78th "Lightning" Division who have not
yet signed for the Service Insurance are urged to in¬
vestigate the benefits of the policy. According to
Lt. J. W. Wright, Assistant Adjutant General, these
insurance policies are con¬
vertible after a five-year
level to three different
types: 20-pay life,
ЗО-Р^-У
life, and straight .life
insurance.
For those considering
applying for the policies,
it is suggested that they
take out the full amount
of $10,000 as it can be
reduced if needs be, while
much time and "red tape"
c.re involved if a nan has
a policy written for
а
smaller amount and wishes
to have it increased.
STILL THE "Q.UEEN"
One of tho soldiers from
Fort M?.cArthur, in Cali¬
fornia, met a Marine while
on furlough and got into
conversation with him. The
Marine asked him, "Soldier,
why on earth did you join
the Amy? Why didn't you
enlist in the Marine Corps
or the Navy?"
The soldier, pushing out
his jaw and tipping back
his hat, replied, "Leather
neck — if tho Army's good
enough for Douglas Kr.c-
Arthur, it's good enough
for me'."
