James Gregory, dubbed ‘The Funniest Man in America" will be gracing the stage of the Broyhill Civic
Center in Lenoir on Saturday, January 19 at 7:30pm. Gregory’s unique story-telling style and his way
sense of the absurd are sure to create an evening of non-stop laughter.
Gregory has been performing his home-spun com¬
edy to sold-out crowds for over 20 years.
Delivering common sense wisdom, old-fashioned
values and politically incorrect humor, Gregory is
known for inspiring fanatic devotion, whether it’s
the first or fifth visit. The ridiculous, the common,
and sometimes even the simplest events all
become hilarious in the hands of this master story¬
teller and world-class comedian. Gregory’s broad
appeal to audiences of diverse ages and back¬
grounds has led to a remarkable list of achieve¬
ments and distinctions.
Gregory performs 48 weekends out of each year,
has released numerous records and videos, and
has performed for over 300 corporate clients in
the past 10 years including Coca-Cola, Kimberly
Clark, and Hewlett Packard, just to name a few.
Gregory has also had numerous television appear¬
ances on Entertainment Tonight, Comedy Central,
TNN, and many more.
In addition to his hectic performance schedule and
many tv appearances, Gregory can also be heard on the radio more than 300 days a year, appearing on
230 live, syndicated drive-time shows a year including John Boy & Billy, Rick & Bubba, and the Bob &
Tom shows.
Hailing from the small town of Lithonia, Georgia, Gregory began his career as a salesman, going door to
door with everything from encyclopedias to vacuum cleaners. It was not until 1982, at the age of 35, that
Gregory’s friends convinced him to do an open mic night at the Punchline, an Atlanta comedy club. He
was an instant hit.
Since that fateful night way back when, Gregory has been working hard at being the "Funniest Man in
America", poking fun at everything from health fanatics to animal rights activist. Gregory’s "front porch
humor" is based on real life experience. He tells the stories we all know, wherever we're from. Gregory
says "I want to make the whole country laugh.”
Gregory will take the stage at the Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir on Saturday, January 19 at 7:30 pm.
Tickets for show are $15 for children and $18 to $23 for adults. CCC&Ti students can purchase tickets for
