Description: The correspondence contains several Civil War letters from
and to D. B. Harrill, chiefly in regard to his health. There is a
letter from W. H. Justice, Rutherfordton, February h, 1879> concerning
the sale of property, and another from L. A. Frazier, Laurinburg,
March 2li, 189- to Mrs. Harroll [Harrill].
A number of papers (I8l2-l8!;7) relate to Drewiy (Drury)
Dobbins. These consist of receipts and bills j a bond for marriage between
Henderson Borders and Susan Doggett; a recipe for an alcoholic beverage j
a certificate of Dobbins’ qualifications to serve as a minister of the
gospel; appointment of Elder Dobbins and Elder Edmund Jones to
represent the church at Sandy Run at the ordination of the minister
at the Church of Christ at Long Creek; ani notice of letters of
administration taken on the estate of Drury Dobbins, August, 18U7 •
The D. B. Harrill family is represented in other papers
(1858-1893). Items included are requests for merchandise, due bills,
and freight bills on the Wilmington, Charlotte, and Rutherford Rail¬
road Compary and the Carolina Central Railway.
Two Civil War items are a monthly return sheet of Captain Joseph
E. Byers, Company B, 3Uth North Carolina Troops, commanded by Colonel
W. L. J. Lowrance, dated November, 1562; and a medical discharge for
Lieutenant D. B. Harold (Harrill), Company B, 3i|th North Carolina
infantry, from General Hospital, No. It, Richmond, Virginia,
