BUSY NORTH CAROLINA WOMEN
29
MRS.
JACQUES
BUSBEE
Art radiates in rural com¬
munity drawing many dis¬
tinguished visitors to log
cabin home.
Because one is isolated
in a remote section is cer¬
tainly no reason why one
should lead a dreary, lonely
life,” says, and practices Juliana Royster Busbee, wife of the artist
Jacques Busbee, of Jugtown. Having been born in Raleigh, she
lived twelve years in New York City after her marriage, her
greatest happiness has been found in this most remote spot in North
Carolina — Jugtown, located in Piedmont North Carolina where
the three counties of Moore, Montgomery and Randolph corner.
The Busbees find home-life charming in their log house furnished
with old-time furniture and some native pieces. Many of the
pieces of furniture have been secured in the neighborhood by Mr.
and Mrs. Busbee who know and cherish the tradition belonging to
them. A person who knows Mrs. Busbee well would not be sur¬
prised to find her surrounded in her log house set in a pine thicket
by countless books, not of the light variety, and newspapers and
magazines of the same type, for she is a constant reader and close
student, in fact she is a well-informed woman.
