There are three letters in the collection. The earliest
(1756) from Francis Stringer, Annagh, Ireland, to Samuel Simpson,
Greenville, North Carolina, tells of his father's provision for
Stringer' s wife Anne of a hundred pounds a year in the event her
husband died- first. Copy of a deed from the Registry of Deeds,
Ireland, gives the details. A letter from J. F. (?) Hartfield,
April 2k,
18Ц1,
Lenoir County, to John Glasgow, requests collection
of accounts for tuition of children from several families. The third
letter is from Annie E. Hartfield, New Garden, North Carolina,
February 23, 1873, to her brother James F. Hartfield, Catherine Lake,
Onslow County, North Carolina.
