The proposed project consists of improvements to the NC 109 corridor in Davidson and Forsyth Counties,
south of the city of Winston-Salem. This statement documents the need for improvements to the existing
corridor and evaluates alternatives with respect to costs and social, economic, and environmental
impacts. A Preferred Alternative will be selected based on the findings of this study, an evaluation of
comments received on this document, and comments received at the Public Hearing.
