EASLEY ENCOURAGES DONATIONS TO HURRICANE ISABEL RELIEF EFFORT; DONATION TRUCK TO BE LOCATED AT LOWE’S STORE DURING RACE IN CONCORD RALEIGH - Gov. Mike Easley today urged citizens to continue to donate time, supplies and money to the Hurricane Isabel relief effort. “I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the relief effort. It has made a difference,” said Easley. “But many residents in Eastern North Carolina are still in great need of basic resources. They are trying to rebuild their homes and communities and they need the help of North Carolinians to accomplish this task. I encourage people to contribute what they can to the relief effort.” There will be a truck accepting donations at Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse store at 1000 Concord Parkway North/Highway 29 in Concord, N.C., from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9 and Friday, Oct. 10 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 1 . Swing Transport Inc. of Salisbury has provided the truck in conjunction with Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse, Clear Channel Stations and Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Currently, residents in Eastern North Carolina are in the greatest need of canned food and baby supplies (diapers, wipes and formula). To coordinate a donation, please call the N.C. Emergency Information Hotline at 1-888-835-9966. The hotline is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. People wishing to make monetary contributions may now donate online by clicking on the “Hurricane Isabel Disaster Relief Donations” icon from the state portal at www.ncgov.com or from the Governor’s website at www.governor.state.nc.us.
