Commerce Secretary Jim Fain will host representatives from Nortel Networks and its flagship manufacturing joint- venture company in China on Friday (June 29) for a ceremony commemorating a $275-million contract Nortel will sign to supply wireless communications equipment to China. The ceremony, in which Nortel Networks and GuangDong Nortel Telecommunications Equipment Ltd. will ink a memorandum of understanding on the deal, will be held in the Old Senate Chamber, located in the State Capitol Building at 1 Edenton St. in Raleigh. The ceremony will follow a 10:30 a.m. photo opportunity with Gov. Mike Easley in the Governor’s Capitol office, which also will be open to the media. Representatives of the Chinese government will attend the signing, along with U.S. Rep. David Price and other area elected officials and Nortel Networks representatives.
