EASLEY REAPPOINTS SLOOP AND WEGNER TO COMMISSION ON CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL HEALTH CARE NEEDS RALEIGH - Gov. Mike Easley has reappointed Sally C. Sloop of Raleigh and Lynn M. Wegner of Chapel Hill to the Commission on Children with Special Health Care Needs. Sloop is statewide family support coordinator at the Family Support Network of North Carolina and adjunct professor at Meredith College. She is chair of the Parents as Teachers Statewide Advisory Board and board member of the Arc of Wake County. Sloop received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education at Wheelock College in Boston, Mass., her master’s degree in urban affairs at Boston University and her certificate of advanced study in learning environments at Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Wegner is medical director at Learning and Development Associates and an adjunct assistant clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of North Carolina Hospitals. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society of Development and Behavioral Pediatrics, the N.C. Pediatric Society and Pediatric Academic Societies. Wegner received her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass., and her medical degree at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. The commission is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the availability and provision of health services to special needs children under the Health Insurance Program for Children in North Carolina.
