CUMBERLAND COUNTY
This deed made and entered into this, 20th day of
September, 1921, by and between E. E. Smith and wife, Nannie L.
Smith of Cumberland County, parties of the first part, and the
STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, a corporation chartered and existing
under and by virtue of the laws of North Carolina, section 5384
of the Consolidated Statutes, party of the second part, Witnesseth:
That for and in consideration of the sum of two thou-
sand five hundred dollars, ($2500), to them in hand paid, the
receipt of which is hereby fully acknowledged, said party of the
first part having given, granted, bargained and sold and do by
these presents give, grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the
said party of the second part and the successors and assigns, the
following tract or parcel of land lying and being in Cross Creek
Township, in said County and State, bounded and described as
follows, to-wit:
Beginning at a point, an iron stake, the southwest cor-
ner of the forty acre tract conveyed by Jno. S. McNeil and wife, to
the State Board of Education on the 31st day of July, 1907, on the
north side of the Murchison Road; thence North 28, 30 W. along
said road. 7 chains and 83 links to the centre of the road, the cor-
ner of Dr. G. B. Patterson's land; thence N. 50, 30 E. 13 chains
and 6 links to the right of way of the Cape Fear & Yadkin Valley
Railroad, now the Atlantic & Yadkin branch of the Atlantic Coast
Line Railroad Company; thence along the right of way of said road S.
27, 30 E. 7 chains and 83 links to the northwest corner of the
40 acre tract conveyed to the State Board of Education; thence
South 50, 30 W. with that line to the beginning, containing 10
acres, more or less. Being the same tract of land conveyed to E. E.
Smith by deed dated April, 15, 1910, and registered in the office
of the Register of Deeds for Cumberland County, in Book "L" No. 7
page 183.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD said tract or parcel or land, to-
gether with all privileges and appurtenances theron and thereto
belonging, unto the said party of the second part and the successors
and assigns forever.
And said E. E. Smith and wife, Nannie L. Smith, for
themselves and their heirs covenant to and with said party of the
second part and their heirs and assigns that they are seized or
said premises in fee, and having good right to convey the same in
