Included in the bulletin are the 2005 commercial fishery landings, with the 2001 to 2004 commercial fishery landings for comparison purposes, a summary of commercial fishing trips by major gears, the 2005 marine recreational finfish harvest figures, with previous years’ recreational harvest figures for comparison, and the 2002 to 2005 Recreational Commercial Gear License (RCGL) harvest data. The North Carolina Trip Ticket Program collects commercial fishery landings and effort statistics. This program mandates trip level fish dealer reporting of all finfish and shellfish landed in the state. Recreational fishery harvest and effort statistics are derived from the Marine Recreational Fisheries Statistics Survey (MRFSS) that conducts recreational angler interviews at public access points combined with telephone surveys. The Recreational Commercial Gear License statistics are based on monthly surveys of RCGL holders.
