WEATHER SUMMARY
SEPTEMBER 2010: September started and ended with tropical storms
but was pretty dry and hot during the rest of the month. Hurricane Earl hit
the coast of NC the first week of September bringing rain and wind with
minimal damage. Tropical Depression Nicole brought rain and flooding to the
Coastal and even Piedmont regions. The full impacts of the storm are yet to Ire
determined. As of September 26, topsoil moisture was rated at 39% very short,
32% short, 27% adequate, and 2% surplus. Activities for the month included
the harvesting of apples, corn, hay, sweet potatoes, and tobacco.
