RULES PUBLIC HEARING
The Stale Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors will
conduct a rules public hearing at 9:00 AM on October 12, 2000,
in the Board's office located at 1200 Front Street, Suite 105,
Raleigh, North Carolina.
The purpose of this hearing is to amend Board Rules cited as 21
NCAC 18B .0209 and .0404 to match the current temporary
rules in effect. The proposed effective date is April 1, 2001.
Persons interested in the proposed action may present written or
oral statements at the public hearing or in writing prior to the
hearing by mail addressed to: Robert L. Brooks, Jr., Executive

BOARD MEMBER REAPPOINTED
Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. has reappointed Curtis R. Kennedy
to a full seven-year term expiring April 15, 2007. Mr. Kennedy
was appointed in 1 998 to complete the unexpired term of Joe
Guill.
Mr. Kennedy served as the Executive Director of the State
Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors from February
1970 imtil his retirement on July 1, 1985. He is a public
member appointee who has no ties with the construction
industry and represents the interest of the public at large.
RECIPROCITY AGREEMENT
The Board is pleased to announce that a Reciprocal Agreement
has been adopted with the West Virginia Contractor Licensing
Board. The Agreement, adopted in August 2000, provides for
the wavier of examination for eligible licensees applying for a
license in the other State.
Under the Agreement, North Carolina UNLIMITED licensees
are eligible to apply to the West Virginia State Fire Marshall for
a master electrician certification and to the West Virginia
Contractor Licensing Board for an electrical contractor's license
and West Virginia licensees are eligible to apply to the North
Carolina Board for an Unlimited license.
Any North Carolina UNLIMITED licensee interested in
obtaining a West Virginia license under this agreement should
contact the West Virginia Contractor Licensing Board, Capitol

The Board is pleased to announce the employment of Curtis
Max Thompson in the position of Field Representative
/
Investigator effective June 1, 2000. Max came to the Board
from the City of Burlington where he was employed as an
Electrical Inspector for over ten years.
Max is fully qualified for a North Carolina Electrical
Contracting license in the Unlimited classification and he also
holds Standard Level III Electrical Certification from the North
Carolina Code Officials Qualifications Board.
Max is assigned to the Central Region of the state and working
from his home in Efland, NC. He is anxious to render the best
possible sendee in his new duties with the Board and he, along
with the Board and members of the staff, solicit your continued
cooperation and assistance as he takes on his new duties.
