career ot humanity and you will make a
greater person of yourself, a greater nation
of your country and a finer world to live in."
This quotation appears on the M LK, Jr.
Na tional Memorial in that same city.
ESSAYTOPIC:
How do you plan to make
a career of humanity?
(Essays will answer the question by referring to the
writer's personal experience and observations, but
also to the Ute, times and writings ot Dr. King .)
Essay Requirements:
• Must be a student enrolled at VGCC.
• Speech must be between three and five
minutes long.
• Written copy of speech must be delivered
to the attention of: Elizabeth Gray/Room
9100 (Main Campus), by noon, Friday,
January 11, 2013.
•Winners must present speech at MLK
program, January 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. in
the VGCC Civic Center.
(In the event of inclement weather ; the
date will be January 23, 2013)
The Vance-Granville
Community College Board of
Trustees held its regular bi¬
monthly meeting on Novem¬
ber 19 on Main Campus.
At that meeting, Steve
McGrady, Curtis Tyndall and
Blondelle Edgerton, co-chairs
of the annual VGCC Endow¬
ment Fund Faculty and Staff
Drive, presented a symbolic
check to the Board for $24,205.
The money was donated by
VGCC faculty and staff to
fund scholarships for VGCC
students. Deborah F. Brown,
chair of the VGCC Board of
Trustees, thanked the faculty
and staff for their generos¬
ity and continuing support
of the Endowment program.
Dr. Stelfanie Williams, the
president of VGCC, also ex¬
pressed her gratitude to the
faculty and staff and to the
Drive's co-chairs.

dent Felicia Sanders-Gupton
