PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: 461 items (including three volumes) in two fibredex boxes.
HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION: Papers of the Tull family of Lenoir County, chiefly
those of John Tull, and dating for the most part from 1858 to 1867 before he
sold his farm just outside Kinston and purchased a new one at Tower Hill.
Included are four paper booklets recording the births of the Tull slaves from
1795 to 1860, Tull farm and dairy accounts, 1878-1896; general merchandise
accounts both in book form and in paper note form, 1858-1867 and 1878-1879;
marriage contract, 1853; deeds and land records, 1869-1895; estates (Dr. Chauncey
Graham, John M. McKinney, Henry Tull); will of John M. McKinney, 1852;; brickyard,
cordwood, saymill and lumberyard, and smith shop accounts from 1857 to 1880;
accounts payable and accounts receivable; promissory notes; tax receipts; hire
of Tull freedmen, 1865-1867; cotton papers; insurance documents; medical bills
payable, and so forth.
