IOINS COLLEAGUES AND U.S. SENATORS TO UNVEIL COLLEGE AFFORDABILITY PLAN WASHINGTON, D.C. - Gov. Mike Easley will attend two events in Washington, D.C. on July 19 (TODAY). First, Easley will deliver the luncheon keynote address at a one-day conference hosted by the Center for American Progress at 12:45 p.m. The conference is being held at the Center’s headquarters, which are located at 1333 H Street NW, 10th Floor. The conference will bring together state and national leaders to discuss creative approaches for addressing household debt and relevant issues in the credit and lending markets. Gov. Easley’s address will be titled, “Domestic debt meets national security” and focus on economic security as a component of national security and will emphasize providing educational opportunities, affordable healthcare and family support to ensure that citizens can succeed in the global economy rather than becoming mired in debt. Easley will express concern that current policies are shifting undue risk to the middle class rather than creating wealth. He will also highlight the correlation between wealth and educational attainment.
