EASLEY ANNOUNCES $50,000 DONATION FROM ANHEUSER-BUSCH TO STATE’S DISASTER RELIEF FUND Money will go to counties with unmet disaster relief needs RALEIGH - Gov. Mike Easley today announced that Anheuser-Busch Companies has donated $50,000 to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund to aid victims of the seven hurricanes and tropical storms that affected the state in the fall of 2004. “The recovery work from these disasters continues and citizens throughout the state are in the process of rebuilding their homes and lives, and are still in need our assistance,” said Easley. “I commend Anheuser- Busch for their donation and lending a hand to North Carolinians as our citizens recover from these devastating storms.” The relief fund supplements state and federal government aid and will provide money to storm victims for minor home repairs, furnace repairs and replacements and other disaster recovery needs. “Anheuser-Busch is proud to make this donation to the citizens of North Carolina who suffered through an unusual number of hurricanes and tropical storms in 2004,” said John Jacob, executive vice president, Anheuser-Busch Companies. “Our company and our wholesalers have made substantial investments in those communities where we do business, and it is important for us to be responsive to those in need. We hope this donation provides some level of comfort and support to those who are rebuilding their lives in the aftennath of the storms.” Anheuser-Busch has made donations to the fund during previous times of disaster in the state. There is no administrative cost associated with the fund, and 100 percent of the donated funds will go to the victims.
