EASLEY APPOINTS LELAND AND REAPPOINTS ADAMS, BAREFOOT, GLASS, NOBLE AND PREVATTE TO U.S.S. NORTH CAROLINA BATTLESHIP COMMISSION RALEIGH - Gov. Mike Easley has appointed James “Jimmy” E. Medlin of Leland and reappointed J. Allen Adams of Raleigh, Daniel Wilson Barefoot of Lincolnton, Fred Stephen “Steve” Glass of Cary, Leslie “Les” M. Noble of Lumberton and H. Brian Prevatte of Wilmington to the U.S.S. North Carolina Battleship Commission. Adams is a member of Parker, Poe, Adams & Bernstein LLP’s Governmental and Regulatory Practice Group in Raleigh. He served five terms in the N.C. House of Representatives, where he was chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. He formerly was chairman of the N.C. Bar Association Committee on Legislation and Law Reform, director of the N.C. Museum of History Associates and a trustree of the N.C. Symphony. He earned his bachelor’s degree in pre-law and his law degree from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. Barefoot is the attorney for the City of Lincolnton and served three terms in the N.C. House of Representatives. He has has received numerous awards for writing history books and was named N.C. Historian of the Year by the N.C. Society of Historians in 1988. Barefoot received his bachelor’s degree in political science and his law degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. Glass is a partner at Johnson, Hearn, Vinegar, Gee & Mercer PLLC in Raleigh. He was a rear admiral in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Naval Reserve, serving as the Reserve Judge Advocate General of the Navy. Glass received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Wake Forest University and his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. Noble is manager of Noble Self-Service Storage in Lumberton. He is a member and former officer of Kiwanis of Roberson County and a member of the local advisory board of Progressive State Bank. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Wake Forest University. Medlin retired after 37 years in the chemical industry and now is a member of the Leland Town Council. He served in the United States Navy and currently is a member of the executive committee of the Leland Hot Stove Baseball Awards.
