EASLEY APPOINTS SPRUILL TO NORTH CAROLINA BOARD OF LICENSING OF GEOLOGISTS Raleigh - Gov. Mike Easley has appointed Dr. Richard K. Spruill of Grimesland to the North Carolina Board of Licensing of Geologists. Spruiii is a hydrogeologist specializing in the evaluation and development of the groundwater resources of the Atlantic Coastal Plain. He is co-owner of Groundwater Management Associates Inc. He also teaches at East Carolina University. Spruill graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree and doctorate in geology. The North Carolina Board of Licensing of Geologists establishes and approves reasonable standards for licensing and renewing licenses for geologists, including but not limited to, the power to adopt or use examination materials and accreditation standards of any duly professionally recognized accrediting agency. The board consists of six members, each serving three-year terms. The governor appoints five members.
