H 2155. HOLDEN BEACH NO-WAKE ZONE. Filed
5/15/08.
TO ESTABLISH A NO-WAKE SPEED ZONE NEAR
HOLDEN BEACH.
Provides that it is unlawful to operate a vessel at greater than a no-wake speed in the Intracoastal Waterway
adjacent to the Town of Holden Beach in specified area. Authorizes the Town of Holden Beach, Brunswick
County, or their designees to place markers indicating the no-wake speed zone. Provides that the act is
enforceable under GS 75A-17 (providing for enforcement of the Boating Safety Act) and makes a violation a
Class 3 misdemeanor. The act is enforceable after markers have been placed in the water.
Please note: this digest is a correction to the May 15, 2008 Daily Bulletin, which identified H 2155 as
"CASWELL BEACH/BUILDING HEIGHT LIMIT." The Caswell Beach bill is actually H 2144 as identified and
digested in the May 1 5, 2008 Daily Bulletin.

H 2240. IMPROVE STATE GIS/CGIC FUNDS. Filed

TO IMPLEMENT THE FUNDING
RECOMMENDATION OF THE OFFICE OF STATE BUDGET AND MANAGEMENT CONCERNING
IMPROVEMENT OF THE STATES GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM AND TO APPROPRIATE
FUNDS TO THE GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION COORDINATING COUNCIL FOR THAT PURPOSE.
Appropriates $635,625 for 2008-09 from the General Fund to the Geographic Information Coordinating
Council to fund improvements in the state’s geographical information system that are consistent with
recommendations from the Office of State Budget and Management’s (OSBM) report dated February 2008, made
in accordance with SL 2007-323, Section 6.13. Provides a review of the recommendations made in the OSBM
report.

H 2241. HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT STUDY/FUNDS. Filed

CREATING THE
LEGISLATIVE STUDY COMMISSION ON ELECTRONIC HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT.
Creates a 16-member Commission as title indicates. Requires the Commission submit a final report to the
2009 General Assembly, at which time the Commission will terminate. Appropriates $50,000 for 2008-09 from the
General Fund to the General Assembly to fund the work of the Commission. Effective July 1 , 2008.
