BULLETIN NO. 1 -1- TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 1982
Today the General Assembly convened for an extra session called by
Governor Hunt pursuant to Section 5(7) of Article III of the North Carolina
Constitution. The Governor's proclamation stated that the General Assembly
shall meet in extra session for the following purposes: (1) considering
legislation to apportion the State House, State Senate, and U.S. House of
Representatives, and to make conforming changes in election lays and the
primary election schedule; (2) considering legislation to' amend G.S. 116-
7(c) and to fill a vacancy on the U.N.C. Board of Governors; and (3) consider¬
ing legislation to amend or repeal Chapters 567 and 965 of the 1981 Session
Laws and other laws requiring local school boards to charge tuition.

Representatives." Rewrites' GS 120-2 to specify State House districts
beginning in 1982 (number of Representatives indicated in parentheses) :
First District: (2) Camden; Chowan; Currituck; Dare; Holly Grove Township
in Gates County; Pasquotank; Perquimans; Tyrrell; the following townships in
Washington County: Lees Mills, Plymouth, and Skinnersville.
Second District: (1) Beaufort; Hyde; and Scuppernong Township in
Washington County.
Third District: (3) Craven; Lenoir; and Pamlico.
Fourth District: (3) Carteret; and Onslow.
Fifth District: (1) The. following townships in Bertie County: Indian
Woods, Roxobel, Snake Bite, and Woodville; the following townships in Gates
County: Gatesville, Hall, Haslett, Hunters Mill, Mintonsville, and Reynoldson;
the following townships in Hertford County: Harrelsville, Maneys Neck,
Murfreesboro, St. Johns, and Winton; Northampton.
Sixth District: (1) The following townships in Bertie County: Colerain,
Merry Hill, Mitchells, Whites, and Windsor; Ahoskie Township in Hertford County;
the following townships in Martin County: Beargrass, Cross Roadsi, Griffins,
Jamesville, Poplar Point, Williams, and Williamston; the following townships
in Pitt County: Befthel and Carolina.
Seventh District: (1) The following townships in Halifax County:
Brinkleyville, Butterwood, Conoconnara, Enfield, Faucett, Halifax, Palmyra,
Roseneath, Scotland Neck, and Weldon; the following townships in Martin County:
Goose Nest, Hamilton, and Robersonville; the following townships In Warren
County: Fishing Creek, Fork, Sandy Creek, Shocco, and Warrenton.
