President’s Message
Cathy Morrison, AIA
I am humbled to be re¬
appointed to a second term
on the NC Board of
Architecture and Registered
Interior Designers and
continue as President for
another year. Fred Dodson,
Jr also continues his service as Vice President. Roula
Qubain continues as the Secretary and Emmy
Williams joins the executive committee this year as
the first Registered Interior Designer to do so. We,
and the rest of the board, look forward to continuing
to serve North Carolina.
Now that we have the Registered Interior Designer
legislation past us, the board is taking on an update of
policies to ensure compliance and consistency. This
proactive refresh will reduce confusion if issues arise
and ensure inclusion of registered interior designers.
Specifically, the Board is looking at its Design/Build
Opinion. We have recruited a few architects to assist
with this process to ensure that it is in line with
current practice.
The Board is well represented both on a national and
regional level. Several Board members and our
Executive Director are serving on NCARB and CIDQ
committees and task forces. This gives North
Carolina a voice in the rules, laws and policies that
govern the practice of architecture.
