books, manuscripts, documents, papers and memorials of
whatever kind relating to the history of this State, particu-larly
those possessed by the late Historical Society of North
Carolina. It shall likewise be authorized to accept donations
of money or property for the purpose of enabling it to pros-ecute
researches into said history and make publication rela-ting
thereto.
Skc. 5. The officer in charge of the capitol shall be KeePiw»orbook«,
authorized to furnish said society a room in said building for
the safe keeping of the books, papers and effects of the
society: Provided, That this can be done without inconve-nience
to any officer of the State or to any officers or com-mittees
of the General Assembly.
Skc. 6. This act shall be in force from its ratification.
Ratified the 22d day of March, A. D. 1875.
CHAPTER CXXVIII.
AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION ONE, CHAPTER FOURTEEN OF PRIt
VATE LAWS OF ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND SEV-ENTY
AND ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-ONE,
AND TO RE-ENACT THE SAME.
Whereas, The persons named in section one of chapter pr8ail, Wc.
fourteen, of the private laws of one thousand eight hundred
and seventy and one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one,
as corporators, have failed and neglected to meet and
organize as a body corporate ; and whereas, the said act has
become null and void by said non-action ;

enact. That Edward II. Hill, Andrew York, William Ben-ners,
Virgil Orowfield, William Bowers, George Abbott,
William Hall, and Oicero Lleobins, their associates, succes-sors
and assigns, shall be and they are hereby constituted a
