The Weekly Raleigh Register Wednesday Morning 19 June 1861 Vol. LXI No. 44
Death of Private Henry L. Wyatt, of the Edgecombe Guards.
This patriot soldier sealed his devotion to his State and country with his hearts blood. We learn that near our troops was a wooden building in and behind which the vandals had taken shelter. A call being made by Capt. Bridgers for volunteers from his company to set fire to the building, Wyatt and four others of the company promptly set out on the hazardous expedition, and on nearing the building were fired upon, the ball penetrating Wyatt through the forehead. One of Wyatts companions instantly shot down the vandal who had slain him.
