Dear Mr. Denmark:
Mrs. Hostetler of [address redacted] Raleigh, has given me
your name as being interested in doing some research in the
Hall of Archives. I would like to employ you for 8 hours
work at $3.00 per hour, which I understand is your usual
charge.
I am trying to find some record as to the parents of my
great grandfather Calvin Jordan. An old Bible I have states
that he was born in 1807. Another Bible reference states
that his mother, Mary Jordan, died Feb. 17, 1846.
Mrs. Hostetler has discovered a marriage bond in Johnston
County records showing marriage of Henry Jordan and Mary
Stevens, May 30, 1797, Mrs. Hostetler also found a deed in
Wake County Records, June 10, 1820, from Henry Jordan, Sr.
to Henry Jordan, Jr.
I wish you to make a search of Johnston County records to
see if you can find a will of Henry Jordan, Sr. of Henry Jr.,
which would mention Calvin Jordan, r any other record you
might find which would give us a lead as to parents of
Calvin Jordan.
Yours very truly,
Ray H. Jordan
