Devin at Raleigh History Club, 1948, on life and strange career of Potter, legislator from Halifax and Granville counties and congressman from North Carolina (1826-1834), member of convention for Texas independence (1836), and secretary of Texas navy and Texas legislator (1837-1841). Also typed copy of reminiscences by Potter's 83-year-old widow describing adventures in New Orleans and Texas (1836-1842), three husbands, encounters with Indians, and Potter's murder by political enemies.
