estate of Walden University is $125,000. The endowment

from students, $2,200 from endowments, and $7,400 from the
Freedmen's Aid Societv. •
The Needs of the University
What the university lacks in buildings, money, and equipment.
the teachers try to make up in planning and enthusiasm. In the
medical, dental, and pharmacy departments, the university has
three good buildings. They meet the pre ent demand, though
crowded, and the equipment is ample for efficient work. In
connection with the Meharry College, Mercy Ho pital has been
established, and during the school year of 1908 more than two
thousand patients received urgical treatment. The success and
skillful surgery in Mercy Hospital has been of a most gratifying
character. In 1908, the mortality following many eriou ea e

Student who have taken advanced studies and are properly
in advanced clas. e, howing studiou habits, usefulne , and
good deportment, may ecure loan for a limited amount from
the Board of Education of the Methodi t Epi copal Church.
W(l.lden -niver ity has a library building containing 4,600
volume , 2,000 magazine and pampWets, and a collection of
more than 1,500 specimen in mineraloay, geology, natural
hi tory, Mrican relics, trea ure , etc. A portion of this building
i u ed for the Braden Bible Training School.
