The Center is a mechanism by which NCSU can better understand furniture manufacturing, stimulate industrial innovation, and strengthen its educational, extension, and research capabilities in this field. www.fmmcenter.ncsu.edu/ The Hosiery Technology Center The Center has a physical presence in two major regions of North Carolina where hosiery manufacturing is centered. The Catawba Valley Community College-based center has served clients in over 40 states. The testing lab tests hosiery products (of sock & sheer testing) for both mills and major retailer. To the east, at Randolph Community College, the technology center is a resource for makers of pantyhose, tights and other fine gauge legwear as well as producers of socks. www.hosetech.com/ The Information Security and Assurance Center – University of North Carolina at Charlotte The Information Security and Assurance Center (ISAC) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is a multi-disciplinary, cross-college center of excellence. The primary focus of the Center is on information security, assurance, and privacy issues which are becoming increasingly important for the proper functioning of businesses and governments, national security, as well as the daily life of an individual in the information society. The Center strives to carry out cutting-edge research and allied educational activities on all aspects of information security, assurance and privacy. www.isac.uncc.edu Institute for Maintenance Science and Technology – North Carolina State University The Institute for Maintenance Science Technology is based at NC State and was founded in 2005. Its mission is to promote economic development by leveraging the resources of the university to enable partnerships among industry, the military, and the University and Community College Systems in the State of North Carolina. The IMST provides technical resources to develop and implement Agile Manufacturing. www.mse.ncsu.edu/imst/ The Institute for Pharmacogenomics and the Individual – University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill The Institute seeks to improve medical treatments by using genetic information, by focusing on generating clinical data to support the economic, regulatory and clinical usefulness of pharmacogenomics. IPIT researchers engage in taking genetic-guided therapy from “bench to bedside to clinical practice” by doing research in basic marker discovery, pharmaco-epidemiology, clinical assessment and outcomes, economic assessment and integration into health systems. www.ipit.unc.edu
