FY02 Superior Court Summary of Key Conclusions District Court Fee Apps (Sample, 2,262) 1) Both in the aggregate and by type of charge, Indigent defense attorney fees and hours worked per case were more consistent than expected: 80% of all fee apps paid $80/hour or less, 66% paid $75/hour or less 80% of all fee apps billed for 4 or fewer hours 80% of all fee apps paid a total fee of $300 dollars or less 2) Wake County consistently paid approximately $60/hours for all types of charges. 3) Indigent attorneys consistently proposed higher rates and estimated cases take more hours than was found to be the case in the 1st quarter FY02 District Court fee app study.
