S. B. 61 CHAPTER 69
AN ACT TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE NORTH CAROLINA BOARD
OF SPACE AND TECHNOLOGY.
The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:
Section 1. G. S. § 143-374 through G. S. § 143-383 are hereby amended
by striking the word "Space" whenever it appears in the designations
"North Carolina Space and Technology Research Center" and "North
Carolina Board of Space and Technology" and substituting therefor the
word "Science" so that the Center and Board are properly designated
"North Carolina Science and Technology Research Center" and "North
Carolina Board of Science and Technology" respectively.
Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby
repealed.
Sec. 3. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 21st
day of March, 1967.
S. B. 76 CHAPTER 70
AN ACT TO ESTABLISH THE NORTH CAROLINA AMERICAN
REVOLUTION BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, there is approaching the bicentennial of the American
Revolution, in which North Carolina played a major and leading part
that needs to be made better known both to our own citizens and to the
nation at large, and
WHEREAS, the experience of our own State and of other States of
the Union has proven in the past that several years of advance planning
and effort are required in order to make such a commemorative celebration
fully successful, and
WHEREAS, other States of the Union have already begun to take the
necessary steps toward the suitable commemoration of this bicentennial,
and
WHEREAS, it has been established that such commemorations are
very much worthwhile in making our people conscious of the importance
of their heritage:
Now, therefore, the General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:
Section 1. There is hereby established the North Carolina American
Revolution Bicentennial Commission, which shall consist ex officio of the
Director of the Department of Archives and History; the Director of the
Department of Conservation and Development; the Superintendent of
Public Instruction; the heads of the history departments (or equivalent
departments) of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North
Carolina State University, North Carolina College at Durham, East Caro-lina
College, Western Carolina College, Appalachian State Teachers College,
Wake Forest College, Duke University, and Davidson College; the State
Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and ten members
to be appointed by the Governor, two for a term of one year, two for a
