taxes heretofore made, or any right heretofore acquired
under any law of this state.
Sec. 145. This act shall be in force from its ratification.
In the general assembly read three times, and ratified
this the 7th day of March, A. D. 1887.
CHAPTER 138.
An act to incorporate the Wilmington Sea Coast Railroad
Company.
1. he General Assembly of North Carolina do enaot:
Section 1. That Iredell Meares, James Sprunt, Thos. Body pontic.
W. Strange, L. S. Balden, G. H. Smith, H. B. Short, Wm.
H. Green, Wm. Larkins, Hill Bowden and such other
persons as may become associated with them as stock-holders
and their successors be created a body politic and
corporate under the name of the Wilmington Sea Coast corporate name.
Railroad Company, and shall have a corporate existence
in perpetuity, and shall have the right to sue and be corporate pow-sued,
to have a common seal, to purchase or acquire by
gift or demise, estate, real, personal or mixed, and to hold,
lease or sell the same as the interest of said company
may require, and shall make and exercise all such by-laws
and regulations for its government as may be neces-sary
or expedient for that purpose not inconsistent with
the constitution of the state or of the United States; and
shall have all the rights and enjoy all the privileges and
immunities possessed and enjoyed by any other railroad
company under the laws of North Carolina, provided
that this section shall not be construed to exempt the Property not ex-
^ empt frona taxa-property
of said corporation from being taxed as the "*'°-
property of other railroads is taxed.
