CHAPTER 56.
An act to change the name of the Elizabeth City aud Norfolk Eail-road
Coinpauy to the Norfolk Southern Railroad Couipauy.
The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact :
Section!. That the name of the Elizabeth City and Mame changed to
Norfolk Railroad Company, a corporation chartered by r. r. co.
an act of the legislature of North Carolina, ratified on the
twentieth day of January, eighteen hundred and seventy,
be and it is hereby changed to that of the Norfolk
Southern Railroad Company, under which name it may
exercise all the powers, aud shall have all the rights, powe*rs?^
privileges and advantages conferred by the said act of
incorporation, and all acts amendatory thereof.
Sec. 2. This act shall be in force from and after its rat-ification.
In the general assembly read three times, and ratified
this the 31st day of January, A. D, 1883.
