Description |
An early 20th century set known as a tumble-up or eye opener set. It is a four piece set, consisting of the carafe left of center, and a hollow stopper to the right of it. If one looks closely at the stopper you will note that it has its own stopper, piece # 3, and then the tumbler is behind the stopper. When assembled, the hollow stopper, with its own stopper, goes in the carafe; and the tumbler is inverted on top of the carafe, where it fits nicely. The hollow stopper was used for medicine or alcoholic spirits, hence the nickname eye opener set |
