~faft nf ~nrf4 filarnlina PAT McCRORY GOVERNOR INAUGURATION OF THE BATTLE OF KINGS MOUNTAIN CHAPTER OF THE SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION 2013 BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, for over 200 years the Battle of Kings Mountain, which was fought during the American Revolution in our struggle for independence, has been recognized and celebrated; and WHEREAS, on October 7, 2013, this important event in our country's history will be recognized at the Annual Commemoration of the Battle of Kings Mountain, in Kings Mountain, North and South Carolina; and WHEREAS, since the occurrence of this famous battle, the men and women who served there are honored and recognized for their heroism in helping to secure a free and independent nation; and WHEREAS, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and its North Carolina Society have supported the efforts of individuals from the Kings Mountain area and individuals whose ancestors served in this battle in their desire to establish a local Chapter of the SAR; and WHEREAS, the current members of the Mecklenburg Chapter and their members who hail from the King's Mountain area have given magnanimous support and approval of the formation of a new King's Mountain Chapter in recognition of the significance of this battle to the achievement of our country's independence. NOW, THEREFORE, I, PAT McCRORY, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 7, 2013, as "INAUGURATION OF THE BATTLE OF KINGS MOUNTAIN CHAPTER OF THE SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION" in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord two thousand and thirteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-eighth.
