Mike Easley appointed Patsy Rose of Shelby to the Cleveland Community College Board of Trustees. Rose has taught in the public school system in Charlotte, Durham and Gastonia, and operated a private kindergarten for 10 years. She has worked as a real estate agent and at Leasing Services Inc. Rose is a past president and current member of the Shelby Junior Charity League and is the current chair of the local affiliate of the Foundation for the Carolinas. She has served for nine years on the Cleveland County Mental Health Board and the Cleveland Community Foundation. Rose received her bachelor’s degree in primary education from Meredith College. The duties of the Cleveland Community College Board of Trustees are to elect a president to the institution; to employ all other personnel to the community college; to purchase land that is necessary for the operation of the college; to apply the standards for admission and graduation of the students of the institution; to receive and accept donations given to the community college; and to provide all or part of the instructional services for the institution. The board consists of 12 members who each serve four-year terms. The Governor appoints four members. ###
